Waikare Forest was the 1st forest established by Roger Dickie (NZ) Ltd. The first rotation was planted in 1989 and the forest had a net stocked area of 454.9 hectares. Harvesting commenced in February 2015 with the first load of logs leaving the property on Wednesday Feb 18th going to New Plymouth Port for Export. Logs for the domestic market will be going to Taranaki Pine in New Plymouth and other local mills.
In 2021 Waikare had an estimated net stocked area of 466 hectares. Planting of the second rotation took place in 2019 and the forest is forecast to be harvested in 2044.
