Location and Situation

Located on Pukeokahu Road, 26 km east of the town of Taihape. 80% of the property is rolling and easy to medium hill contour . The balance is steeper hill country with some native bush running down to the Rangitikei River which runs along 6 km of Pukekaka’s south eastern boundary.

Average annual rainfall is recorded at 950 -1,100mm. There is a good natural spring water supply that is harnessed to reservoirs and reticulated around part of the farm. The property is well laid out and has a high grade of fencing dividing it into 85 main paddocks, 18 holding paddocks and a series of lane ways. There is an excellent airstrip with 3 large fertiliser bins. A metalled road to the airstrip gives all weather access to the top of the property with a 23 km network of well-established tracks giving reliable 4WD access over the entire farm. The Farm runs 11,500 stock units.

Management and Staff – The quality of farm staff is critical to the success of any farming venture and there are two permanent employees at Pukekaka. The property has an excellent and progressive young manager with a proven track record of productive farming in the Taihape area. Casual labour is employed on an as and when required basis to assist with seasonal peaks.

Homestead and Staff Housing – There are four houses and two employee accommodation blocks on the property. The Managers house has been renovated; another is used for the permanent staff.
